Memory Lane (2024)

Being a Dutchman, I know from experience that good Dutch movies are, sadly, scarce. I like the films of Alex van Warmerdam, and of course Paul Verhoeven’s early repertoire, before he and Rutger Hauer moved to the USA to become big stars. So I was pleasantly surprised to discover that De Terugreis (Memory Lane) was quite a good film. I was impressed by the touchingly portrayed drama of dementia. The comedy between the drama felt a bit dated, but I did like the fittingly moving score during the dramatic scenes.
