Rojo - Review

Now this drama/thriller is among the bleakest, most depressing period pieces i've come across in recent years, using the events leading up to the 1976 military coup in Argentina as a backdrop as our main protagonist-turned-villain, a successful and highly regarded lawyer, gets his own morals challenged in an extreme encounter with an unhinged stranger. It plays out a bit like a Cohen brothers drama (the criminally underrated "The Man Who Wasn't There" comes to mind) without the satirical bent, laying bare the abysses of the human soul in the most damning, relentless fashion.
