Masterful

Ken Loach is a master of cinema, able to tell a story so convincing, it is like watching a timeless documentary instead of directed actors. Kes is an effective reflection of British working-class life around 1969. The acting feels very natural, and the boy's performance is mesmerizing. I particularly loved the scene where he passionately tells about his bird in the classroom.
