Sly (2023)Sly left me with the same ambivalent feelings as the documentary about his muscular counterpart: Arnold. I liked getting to know more about Stallone's childhood and early years. It's sad that Stallone's father was an asshole. What I missed in the coverage of the early years is his X-rated career start. I think that should have been mentioned somewhere, if only for a brief moment, without footage of course. 😅 What I disliked was comparable to what I disliked about Schwarzenegger's story: it was too (self-)congratulatory, and the narcissistic side of their personalities became emphasized, for example by repeatedly showing that Stallone is surrounded by statues, photos and paintings of himself in his huge mansion. I would have liked to hear more about First Blood, which I consider to be one of his best films.
