The Things of Life (1970)Les Choses de la Vie was an interesting watch. I'm a sucker for 1970s era films, particularly when the neo-romanticism of those years is present: light classical music, sun-drenched picnics in the grass, lens flares, white dresses, a certain kind of dreamy timelessness and sensuality. Although such scenes were scarce in Les Choses de la Vie, I liked the early-1970s atmosphere. The car crash scenes were pretty impressive, and I liked the surreal, delirious, feverish scenes after the car crash. But apart from that, I thought the plot was pretty thin, with a relatively stoic performance of the lead actor. Romy Schneider was radiant as ever though, and Lea Massari could have been Jennifer Lawrence's mum. 😃
