Unknown (2011)

A week ago I wrote a short review of the Liam Neeson film Non-Stop, and rated it 2.5 out of 5 stars. Tonight I watched Unknown, and again can't award it more than 2.5 stars. It seems like Liam Neeson has become sort of a Jason Statham ever since Taken — playing the same kind of roles: a former secret agent type of guy who's getting into trouble or needs to get someone out of trouble. Like Non-Stop, Unknown is reasonably entertaining and suspenseful in the first half of the film, then the plot's credibility goes really downhill in the second half. Once upon a time, Neeson starred in Spielberg's masterpiece Schindler's List. He is a charismatic actor, and I think accepting mediocre roles like this is kind of a waste of his acting talent. It was nice to see Frank Langella back in Unknown. I'm intrigued by that man since I saw him in the interesting 1979 adaptation of Dracula.
