Dragged Across Concrete (2019)

Well, this film dragged alright. So much that even frequently fast-forwarding during the first one and a half hour didn't get me to one decent bit of action. And this isn't a film I decided to view because of its intellectual depth. Vince Vaughn and Mel Gibson just rambled on and on in their car while following shallow bad guys. None of the characters was really likable, really credible or really interesting. So around two-third of the lengthy film I stopped it. I did like Bone Tomahawk by the same director, as well as Brawl in Cell Block 99, which featured a number of the same actors as Dragged Across Concrete. But Dragged Across Concrete just didn't work for me. I think Brawl in Cell Block 99 was an obvious piece of black humor with a pleasant hint of absurdism, while Dragged Across Concrete is less of an indie film, giving me the impression that the budget-injecting, profit-hungry film company wanted it to be more serious and mainstream.
