The Decline of Western Civilization (1981)some scattered thoughts on this one. something i did not expect was when looking up the bands while watching it, i realized most of these people in these bands were the same age as my mom. so like the youngest of the boomers with no therapy or resources and all the inherited trauma of that generation. do not talk about your feelings. therapy or art school are plainly out of reach. there is one girl in the film talking about how she learned to simply not be depressed by suppressing her feelings. it's easy for me, then i am not sad anymore. oof. The Germs at this point in their lifespan are just a mess. Darby is very very sad. and like weirdly, nothing to say really except edgy stuff that they think is cool i've always been drawn to punk but over the years realized that i was not welcome for a bunch of different reasons. i remember trying to mosh at a show one time and this guy said he was going to beat me up and i left. too fat, too queer, whatever. watching this really cements that this was never a scene for me. X sounds great in it though
