日本怪談選集系列《怪談餐館（暫譯，怪談レストラン）》將被製作成電視動畫，並預定於今年 10 月開始播映。自 1996 年開始發行的《怪談餐館》是由日本兒童文學作家 松谷美代子擔任主編，以「恐怖但是有趣」的作品為主題，將日本的民間傳說、校園以及世界怪談編輯成冊，至 2007 年為止就出版了 50 集，受到許多中、小學生的喜愛。
而因為作品以「餐館」為主題，因此每集的動畫都將分為「前菜」、「主菜」以及「甜點」三段故事來播放，作品以小學六年級的「大空 AKO（アコ）」為主角，描述他與身旁的朋友所遇到的各種奇妙事情。

根据介绍，动画「口袋妖怪THE ORIGIN」是以口袋妖怪游戏的第一部作品「口袋妖怪红·绿」的人物为中心进行故事展开的作品，动画描写的是主角为少年小红，受大木博士委托，和搭档小火龙一起在关东地区展开大冒险，途中遇到少年小绿，并一起与火箭队战斗的故事。
游戏「口袋妖怪红·绿」于1996年2月27日发售，它的诞生标志着口袋妖怪诞生。游戏以关东地区为冒险舞台，创造了口袋妖怪的概念，该作全球销量约为3138万份。

故事内容延续第一部TV版攻壳机动队STAND ALONE COMPLEX的剧情继续发展。但TV版的2部作品与剧场版无甚联系，可以看做是两个平行世界里发生的事情。
这次TV版第2季的制作班底与第一部相同，同时剧情表达上和第一季一样，每话由不同故事构成，各自独立成章，却贯穿着同一条主线。在剧情上同时电影版导演押井守也参与了协力，不过电影版中凄凉的气氛没有在TV版第二季中体现。
