In 2003, Han Dong, a teenager who dropped out of high school, arrives at Beijing with a dream of becoming a journalist.

A film crew gathers in a hotel near Wuhan to resume production of a film that was interrupted ten years earlier, but an unexpected event once again disrupts the preparations.

A documentary directed by Ma Yingli, the screenwriter of The Shadow Play. This documentary followed every step of how this film was made, from pre-production, shooting to post-production. After completion, the crew started to cope with the censorship system of China, which is the most uncertain part of Chinese independent film-making.

Tang Yijie, the Construction Committee Director, falls off from rooftop and dies in a demolition riot. Yang Jiadong, a young police officer starts his investigation and finds that Tang's death is tied up with another case several years ago.
