Harada is a successful scenario writer, and his best buddy has just announced an intention to propose to Harada's ex-wife. Recovering from the shock, Harada indulges in melancholy, mainly on his failure as a husband and father, and goes to a 'Rakugo' show, where a friendly man in the audience invites him home. Harada is puzzled at the strong resemblance of this man and his wife to his own parents, who were killed nearly 30 years ago when he was twelve.

Megumi Noda, or "Nodame" is a piano student at Momogaoka College of Music. An extremely talented pianist who wants to be a preschool teacher, she prefers playing by ear rather than reading the music score. She is messy and disorganized. Shinichi Chiaki is Momogaoka's top student. Born into a musical family, he is talented in piano and violin and has secret ambitions to become a conductor. An arrogant multi-lingual perfectionist who once lived abroad in the music capitals of the world as a young boy, he is trapped in Japan because of his childhood phobia of airplanes and the ocean. They meet by accident and sparks fly!

Shuichi Kushimori is a 17 year old high school student who lives happily with his mother and stepsister. One day, without warning, his estranged stepfather returns home from a long absence. He quickly falls into a circle of drinking and starts abusing his ex-wife and daughter. When he begins making sexual advances towards Shuichi’s stepsister, Shuichi is compelled to take matters into his own hands.

時は天文年間。美濃と尾張の国境では、戦いが毎日繰り広げられていた。戦いの中、敗走する雑兵の中に、奪った兜を手にした藤吉郎（柴田恭兵）がいた。藤吉郎が奪った兜を鉄砲で打ち抜いた武士は、明智光秀（千葉真一）であった。怒った藤吉郎は光秀に切りかかるが気迫に負けてしまう。そんな折、謎の女・夢御前（松坂慶子）が現れ、「藤吉郎の運命は女性によって開かれる」というお告げを下す。藤吉郎はこのお告げに従い、評判の美女を捜し求める。ある日、藤吉郎は織田信長の妹・お市（安田成美）に出会い、その美しさに心を奪われるが、お供のねね（名取裕子）らに追い払われてしまう。しかし、ふとしたことから信長に気に入られ、織田家へ仕官することになった藤吉郎は、浅野叉右衛門へ預けられることとなった。この浅野家の娘がねねであると知り、藤吉郎は度重なる奇遇に驚く。信長が今川義元との桶狭間の戦いで、勝利をあげ喜びに湧く中、藤吉郎はねねと婚礼をあげる。
その後、天下平定のため、妹・お市が嫁いだ浅井家を攻めることになった信長。藤吉郎は単身小谷城へ乗り込み、お市と三人の娘を助け出す。この功績が認められた藤吉郎は浅井氏の旧領を受け継ぎ、長浜に自分の城を築く。そして名前を羽柴秀吉と改めた。
その秀吉が中国攻めの総大将となり高松城の水攻めの指揮を取っている最中、光秀による信長暗殺の一報がもたらされる。秀吉は中国より大返りをなし、信長の遺児・信孝を表に立て山崎天王山で光秀と激突する。見事に光秀を下した秀吉は、得意満面で凱旋してゆく…。

二ツ目の落語家、志ん魚は二十三歳の誕生日、志ん米はじめ、仲間の援助で初めてソープランドに行った。志ん魚についたエリザベスは初々しい彼に興味を抱き、二人はその日からデートを重ねた。彼女はペンギンブックスを読むようなインテリだ。数日後、そんな志ん魚に、女子高の落研に所属する女の子たちがコーチを依頼に来る。志ん魚はその中の一人、由美に心を寄せる。純な志ん魚は由美のことをエリザベスに告白するが「バレなければいいじゃない」と気にしない。志ん魚は割りきれないまま、エリザベス、由美とデートを続けた。その頃、志ん米の真打ち昇進が決まった。先輩の昇進を喜ぶと同時に、取り残されたような気持の志ん魚は、エリザベスの部屋を訪ねた。彼女は雄琴に行くと荷作りをしていた。寂しさをこらえて手伝う志ん魚。志ん米の真打ち昇進パーティの日、志ん魚と仲間は将来の夢を語り合うのだった。

Tadashi Iki returns to Japan from a Soviet gulag 11 years after being captured during the invasion of Manchuria. He is offered a position in the expansive Kinki Corporation, but rival corporations are competing for a government contract to produce fighter planes.

Keito is a reporter for a weekly magazine. The magazine covers everything from corruption by politicians to entertainers' scandals. She watches out for the next big scoop. Keito is also rich and enjoys her work, as well as her love life. One day, Keito's mother suddenly dies. Anna was a single mother who raised Keito alone. She worked as a movie critic. Right before her death, Anna mentioned something about Keito's father. The name she mentioned is that of a Hollywood star.

While Ryoko is in Vienna studying music, her boyfriend dies in a traffic accident. Ryoko believes that she has psychic powers which killed him, and when she returns to Japan she is sent to a mental hospital. While recovering, her brother-in-law, Kouji, decides to look after her, and she goes to his house to act as a governess for Kouji's sister Keiko's daughter, Alice – who Ryoko becomes increasingly sure had something to do with her sister Fuyuko’s death.

Hideyuki Mitamura, a student at a private school near Osaka, is kidnapped on his way home from school.
