Greg Wise (Sense and Sensibility) and Keeley Hawes (Karaoke) star in this sumptuous adaptation of Wilkie Collins' classic mystery, the first detective novel ever written. The Moonstone, a sacred Hindu diamond was stolen from the head of the Moon God, in its shrine by John Herncastle in 1799. The stone is said to be cursed if it is removed from the shrine. In 1848, a man named Franklin Blake announces to Rachel that the Moonstone has been bequeathed to her by Herncastle. Blake gives her the jewel on her birthday and offers to mount the jewel for her, in order that she might wear it. Inevitably, the jewel is found missing the next morning and Rachel believes Blake stole it. Determined to prove his innocence, Blake leaves in order to pursue the real truth behind the theft.

In her final stories, Marple’s travels take her far beyond her village. On a Caribbean holiday, she unmasks a murderer after a fellow guest dies mysteriously. At Greenshaw’s Folly, she shelters a mother and child only to witness a spiral of accidents, disappearances, and murder. Finally, in Endless Night, she faces one of her bleakest investigations, where youthful dreams and obsession turn into tragedy.

Marple’s circle widens as she confronts sinister forces linked to the murder of a priest, uncovers diplomatic intrigue and jewel thefts during a weekend at Chimneys, and exposes superstition hiding calculated cruelty when flowers change color and death follows. At Gossington Hall, she helps a Hollywood star whose glamorous new life is shattered by a poisoned cocktail.

Nursery rhymes, parlor tricks, and dying words shape Marple’s inquiries. A wealthy businessman’s death mirrors a children’s verse, “accidental” village deaths reveal a calculating hand, and a household of blended family tensions hides dark resentments. When a dying man whispers a riddle to a young adventurer, Marple helps decode the truth behind his last words.

Stepping beyond St. Mary Mead, Marple investigates mysteries rooted in family betrayal and legacy. A genteel London hotel masks corruption and murder, an old conviction is challenged when a stranger clears a black sheep’s name, and a seaside party spirals into a double killing. In her most personal case yet, she fulfills a dead man’s request to expose a crime hidden under a single word: Nemesis.
