After retrieving the Crystal Skull in Utah, Flynn Carsen receives a map in the mail with the secret location of King Solomon's Mines. When the scroll is stolen, Judson explains the power of the Key of Solomon's book and assigns Flynn to retrieve the map. The map is useless without the legend piece to decipher it, which is located in Volubilis near the Roman ruins in Morocco. Flynn heads to Casablanca to the ruins where he is chased by a group of mercenaries leaded by General Samir. They too want to find the location of King Solomon's mines. Flynn teams-up with Professor Emily Davenport working in the dig and they escape from General Samir and his men. While traveling to Gedi, they save the local Jomo from death and the trio faces a dangerous journey through the wild Africa.

In season two, the Enterprise continues on its journey across the galaxy with the birth of a new member. Picard once again leads the team as unknown civilizations take notice of the ship and wishes to know more about the crew and their operations. This season looks closer into the relationship of man vs. machine as Q once again tries to test Picard against a new enemy. The Ferengi threatens the Enterprise and the mystery of the holodeck pits the crew against the clock as lives hang in the balance.

In the seventh and final season, Riker goes undercover and rediscovers Picard posing as a mercenary on an alien ship. Together they initiate a plan to find a lethal artifact. The crew struggles to deal with Data's new found human elements which cause several traumatic episodes for the crew. As Picard is imprisoned by an alien race, he comes to terms with past emotions. Riker is once again conflicted between his loyalty to Picard and his obligation to Starfleet and the Federation. As the lives of the crew members are endangered, Picard is taken on a journey to the past, present, and future to see the results of his actions.

This special is hosted by Patrick Stewart and traced the history of Star Trek from its inception with "The Cage" through to Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. It also showed brief previews of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier and TNG's second season. Also it was principally a container for the premiere of a full color print of "The Cage" which had, according to the special, recently been recovered from Paramount's studio archives.

L'arrivée, en septembre 1985, sur le petit écran de deux séries, Les Gummies et Les Wuzzles, marque pour les studios Disney le début d'une production, ininterrompue depuis, d'œuvres animées à destination du seul média télévision. Leur catalogue s'étoffera ainsi au fil du temps accumulant au passage de véritables pépites, telles La bande à Picsou, Winnie l'ourson ou Timon & Pumbaa. Il faudra patienter jusqu'à l'automne 1994 pour voir débarquer sur le petit écran, une série qui apparaît, aujourd'hui encore, comme un véritable ovni dans les productions Disney.
En effet, alors même que tous les studios, épousant sans autre ambition l'air du temps, se concentraient sur les séries animées à dominante comique, Disney rompt soudainement le conformisme ambiant. En produisant Gargoyles, il impose sans mal une série d'action et se tourne résolument vers un public plus adulte que le cœur de cible de ses productions télé habituelles. Il fera d'ailleurs bénéficier la série non seulement d'un dessin sophistiqué et d'une bande son remarquable (la B.O. étant signée Carl Johnson !) mais aussi de scénarii particulièrement bien écrits où l'approfondissement psychologique des personnages alterne avec finesse aux scènes d'action. Les personnages principaux sont ainsi Goliath (le chef du groupe), Hudson (le vieux), Broadway (le glouton), Brooklyn (le téméraire), Lexington (le futé) et Bronx (l'animal de compagnie) auxquels s'ajoute une ami humaine, Elisa Maza, détective du NYPD, sans oublier le méchant, milliardaire de son état, Xanatos. La série comptera trois saisons pour un total de 78 épisodes répartis en 13 épisodes pour la Saison 1, 52 en Saison 2 et 13 en Saison 3 (dénommée spécifiquement "Les chroniques de Goliath") Gargoyles aura droit également à une déclinaison vidéo par la réunion sous le titre Gargoyles - Le film : Les anges de la nuit des cinq premiers épisodes dont la trame est subtilement liée. Gargoyles est assurément un "ovni" dans le catalogue Disney des productions télés animées. Très adulte dans le ton, la série jongle, en effet, sans arrêt avec une réelle efficacité, entre les scènes d'actions et la psychologie des personnages. Après le long pilote d'introduction (Gargoyles - Le film : Les anges de la nuit), chaque personnage voit ainsi un épisode tout entier lui être consacré. Cette grande exposition permet de mieux cerner les caractères de chacun et d'envisager avec d'autant plus de plaisir, les aventures vécues. Ces dernières sont d'ailleurs soutenues par la trame commune qui relie entre eux les épisodes et qui détonne par rapport aux habitudes des Studios, plus prompts à produire des séries à épisodes autonomes. Gageons que le fait que la série ait été produite en partie par l'ancien Studios Disney du Japon n'est pas étranger à cette évolution tant elle s'inscrit dans la tradition des Mangas ! Gargoyles est une série remarquable qui fait l'objet, à juste titre, d'un véritable culte aux États-Unis où de nombreux colloques lui sont, chaque année, consacrés. A découvrir d'urgence, le seul risque couru étant de devenir "accro" ...
