警視庁捜査一課に、北見志穂（松下由樹）や袴田刑事（蟹江敬三）とも面識がある科捜研のプロファイラー・紺野（遠藤憲一）の部下の早瀬水樹（吉野きみ佳）が異動してくる。そんなある日、早朝の新宿中央公園で若い女性の袋詰め死体が発見される。死因は鋭利な刃物で頚動脈を切られたことによる失血死だった。だが、これだけの傷にもかかわらず、不思議なことに抵抗した跡がない。また、被害者は身元を特定できるようなものは何も所持していなかった。聞き込み捜査の結果、被害者は前夜、新宿西口付近でワインを持って立っていたという目撃証言が得られたが、依然として身元は判明しない。数日後、捜査本部にタレコミ電話がかかる。午後3時に新宿西口でワインを持って立っている女性を見張っていれば犯人が現れるというのだ。さらに、先日の被害者は薄野珠代（本橋いずみ）というコンパニオンだと、電話の主は告げたのだった。志穂や袴田刑事とともに新宿西口に急行した水樹は、その女性を特定し尾行するが撒かれてしまう。そして数時間後、その女性が死体となって発見された。死因はやはり、刃物による頚動脈切断だった。捜査本部は、同一犯によるものと断定し、この異常犯罪に対応するため、紺野の応援を求めた。
