A young woman and her lover draw an unsuspecting lawyer into their plan to kill her rich uncle and stay with his fortune.

A rich and lonely old man leaves his old mansion in Ouro Preto to his nephew, who moves into it with his wife. But soon enough the house begins to acquire a will of its own, while the man’s personality undergoes a radical transformation, assimilating the habits of the dead uncle.

A great mystery surrounds Leonora, and it becomes even more mysterious when a stranger arrives from Buenos Aires looking for her, saying he knows her. In love with her, he is desperate when they say she is dead. Not believing what they say, he continues his search. But upon finding her, he is faced with a cruel and unexpected enigma.

A man tries to avenge the death of his sister, a gambling addict. Another man, an ex-convict who whistles when he commits a crime, is reunited with his blind mother.

When chain gang prisoners attack their guards, some of the hardened criminals escape Brazil's infamous Anchieta Prison amidst all the pick-ax carnage. The government dispatches a machine-gun squad to round up the fugitives.

Hands sculpted in stone, hidden in the niches of an ancient house, are regarded as sources of a curse by the present inhabitant, a country gambling addict. Indeed, he goes to an early grave after experiencing bankruptcy. The house passes to another family, one of whose sons becomes obsessed with the hands.
