『聖者的行進』是日本超級王牌編劇家---野島伸司和名製作人伊藤一尋繼『高校教師』（93年）、『人間˙失格』（94年）、『未成年』（96年）之後第四度攜手合作的連續劇。這是描寫一群智障人士的成長過程的故事，演員陣容十分堅強，包括酒井法子、石田壹成、廣末涼子、安藤政信、雛形明子、松本惠等，可說是網羅了所有當紅的偶像新人。當然光是打著酒井法子和野島伸司組合的招牌，就足以吸引一大群日劇迷了。
本劇主角是一群在庇護工廠工作的智障人士，描述他們的成長經歷以及生活上的點點滴滴。由於題材較為敏感、尖銳，因此在日本播出時，即引起相當大的迴響與媒體輿論。劇中飾演這一群智障人士的有石田壹成、安藤政信、雛形明子、松本惠、渡邊慶、小林正寬，對於一向習慣當偶像的他們而言，首次飾演這種心智不健全的角色，的確是難度相當高的挑戰。因此為了演好劇中的角色，他們特地親自到殘障中心去見習，並努力揣摩智障者的角色。而酒井法子所扮演的角色是與這一群智障者站在同一線上的音樂老師；一向有「鄰家女孩」之稱的廣末涼子則飾演她的學生，但這一次她突破以往清純乖巧的形象，飾演一個個性 叛逆的少女，這也是本劇令人期待之處。
故事的前半段主要在描寫石田壹成和廣末涼子之間的純純之愛，隨著劇情的發展慢慢地帶進這些智障者的生活點滴，同時經由野島伸司的劇情鋪陳以及伊藤一尋的鏡頭運鏡，將她們不為人知的黑暗面掀露出來。所以這齣戲的話題性不只在於堅強的卡司，還有它題材的特殊性。這絕對是一齣令人感動的精彩好戲，請你用一顆悲憫的心，來關心這個躲在暗處的弱勢團體。
