Set during Japan's Shogun era, this film looks at life in a samurai compound where young warriors are trained in swordfighting. A number of interpersonal conflicts are brewing in the training room, all centering around a handsome young samurai named Sozaburo Kano. 「ＣＵＲＥ」「カリスマ」の黒沢清監督最新作「アカルイミライ」の制作過程をつぶさに捉えた異色ドキュメンタリー。「森山大道」で注目された藤井謙二郎が、「アカルイミライ」の撮影現場に密着、黒沢監督へのインタビューを中心に、出演者やスタッフのコメントを織り交ぜ、映画監督黒沢清の創造の秘密に鋭く迫る。
今や世界が注目する監督の一人となった黒沢清の「回路」以来２年振りとなる新作「アカルイミライ」が2002年4月10日にクランクインした。主演のオダギリジョーはじめ、浅野忠信、藤竜也はみな初の黒沢作品への出演であり、それぞれが初顔合わせ。そんな中、撮影は東京を中心におよそ３週間に渡って行われた。その撮影現場の一部始終を藤井謙二郎のカメラが捉える。さらに、本作では「アカルイミライ」撮影中に撮られたメイキング映像そのものを見せながら、黒沢監督自らにその時の心境を語らせる独自の手法を用い、より具体的で率直な思いを引き出していく。
