故事背景为日本的江户时代，风是一家小茶馆的侍女，这天茶馆里来了一群地方恶霸，其中地方官儿子龙次郎尤其欺人太甚。风因为意外得罪了龙次郎，情急之下，茶馆内一名无职浪人“无幻”出手救了风。另一方面，地方官正在欺压老百姓，流浪武士“仁”路见不平拔剑相助，杀死了地方官身边的四个“高手”保镖，救下了穷人，因此得罪了地方官。
随后，无幻和仁在茶馆里相遇并交手，忽然一场大火将他们困住，二人随之被捕。因儿子在大火中丧生，恼羞成怒的地方官勒令将二人砍首。砍首之日二人大闹刑场，并且在风的帮助下，从刑场中逃出来了。作为代价，风要求他们一起去寻找一个身上“带着向日葵香味”的武士。从此，三人展开了一场奇幻的旅程。

Armored Fleet Dairugger XV was an anime series aired in Japan from 1982 to 1983. It is also referred to as Dairugger 15, Dairugger XV, Armored Armada Dairugger XV, Armored Squadron Dairugger XV, or Machine Platoon Dairugger.

It was adapted into an anime television series which aired on Fuji TV from December 1972 to September 1974. A second manga series was released alongside the TV show, this one drawn by Gosaku Ota, which started and ended almost at the same time of the TV show. Mazinger Z has spawned several sequels and spinoff series, among them UFO Robot Grendizer and Mazinkaiser. It was a very popular cartoon in Mexico during the 1980s, where it was dubbed into Spanish directly from the Japanese version, keeping the Japanese character names and broadcasting all 92 episodes, unlike the version aired in the U.S.

Three years after the Hiroshima bombing, a teenager helps a group of orphans to survive and find their new life.

The story revolves around Duke Fleed who is a survivor of the Vega Star, raised by Dr. Umon as his adoptive son, and known as Daisuke Umon on Earth. Years after his arrival, he's faced with the threat of King Vega and his army, who want to conquer the Earth. With his friends Koji and Hikaru (and later his kid sister Maria Grace), Duke decides to fight back using his best weapon, the almighty Grendizer.

天才・兜剣造博士は、実験中の事故で瀕死の重傷を負ったが、父・十蔵博士の手により、サイボーグとして蘇った。その後、きたるべきミケーネ帝国との戦いにそなえ、父十蔵の設計したマジンガーZをパワーアップさせたグレートマジンガーを製作。孤児の剣鉄也と炎ジュンを引き取り、パイロットとして育成しながら戦いの日に備えていた。
息子・甲児がマジンガーZでドクター・ヘルと戦っている間、兜剣造はその戦いを見守るのみであった。だがドクター・ヘルの敗北後、地底に潜んでいたミケーネ帝国が地上侵略へと乗り出す。彼らの兵器「戦闘獣」の前にマジンガーZはたちまち追いつめられてしまう。この時、ついに兜剣造はグレートマジンガーを出撃させた。剣鉄也のグレートマジンガーは初出撃で戦闘獣を一蹴してその力を示した。以後、マジンガーZに代わってグレートマジンガーが地上を防衛する任に就き、ミケーネとの新たな戦いが始まったのである。
なお、『マジンガーZ』の主人公・兜甲児はアメリカ（ワトソン研究所）へ留学したという設定で、本作中にはほとんど登場しなかった。ただし、終盤の数話にはマジンガーZと共に再登場してグレートマジンガーを助けて戦っている。また、本作の後番組である『UFOロボ グレンダイザー』では再びレギュラーとして登場した。
