“我有两个项目想在未来五年内完成，而且我确实想尝试拍一部英语电影。我有一个想法，会涉及亚洲和日本演员，我想拍一些以二战为背景的电影，我对那段时期感兴趣有两个原因。第一，日本人在拍摄战争电影时，经常把日本描绘成受害者。但客观地看，日本并不是受害者，我们也不善于承认和处理我们侵略者的身份。在日本电影中，你很少看到这种现象。第二，我一直对战后留在日本领土满洲的巴西、夏威夷、旧金山等地的日本人很感兴趣。这些人被自己的国家抛弃了。我对此很感兴趣的一个原因是，战后我的父亲在满洲。他被送到西伯利亚，在零下 40 度的严寒中做了三年苦役，然后才回到日本。他回来后，政府没有给他任何支持，他被抛弃了。回来的人被他们的国家抛弃了。这就是我对感兴趣的原因。
