讲述的是一名个人经营进口杂货商店的男子井之头五郎，在工作间隙前往餐馆当中吃饭的场景的故事。作品中登场的餐馆全部都是实际存在的，其中一个重要的特点就在于基本上都是一些大众化的餐馆，只不过作品中并不是单纯地描述食文化，而是着重表现主人公吃饭的场景以及心理描写。

受老朋友岸本所托，井之头五郎（松重丰 饰）奔赴仙台，在完成工作洽谈后，来到当地一家小餐馆，品尝了牛舌套餐和烤牛尾。五郎叔大快朵颐，幸福满满。在此之后，他的脚步来到石卷市。出了车站，他站在3•11遗址深深聚了一躬，随后租了一辆秀密轻巧的轻卡，驱车来到女川町，和当地的负责人（向井理 饰）洽谈地方振兴活动中所需要的商品。工作顺利完成，而吃货五郎叔也感到肚子饿了，几经周转他终于找到一家开在山道上的海鲜饭店，并且在五色海鲜盖饭和星鳗天妇罗的夹攻下享受了快乐的午餐时间。
东北三陆的美食，给五郎叔留下了深刻的印象。而曾经遭受震灾和海啸的地区，似乎也正恢复往日的活力……
