On 9 July – Argentina’s Independence Day – Llinás sets off in Buenos Aires with his regular cameraman Agustín Mendilaharzu to re-record ‘Corsini interpreta a Blomberg y Maciel’, an album made in 1929 by lyricist Hector Pedro Blomberg and composer Enrique Maciel, as an ode to Juan Manuel de Rosas, leader of the Argentine Confederation.

An enormous effort of narrative complexity made up of six independent, successive stories, connected by the same four actresses living very different experiences in very different universes…

Santiago, an Argentine police corporal, crosses the border into Uruguay fleeing from other police officers who are looking for him. Using his uniform, he inspects regional food stalls, sampling dairy products and cold cuts to survive, while trying to go unnoticed among the locals. Without money or lodging, but with empathy and cunning, he begins to plot a new life, receiving help from local characters he meets along the way and even finding what he believes to be the love of his life.

A couple must hold on to $100,000 for 24 hours as they wait to buy a house. As the time ticks by, the true nature of their love unravels.

Celina works at a remote tollbooth on a desert road, few days before Christmas, her father dies and Celina becomes a door-to-door encyclopedia saleswoman so she can earn enough money to travel to Italy and find her mom.
