Kenshin has settled into his new life with Kaoru and his other friends when he is approached with a request from the Meiji government. Makoto Shishio, a former assassin like Kenshin, was betrayed, set on fire and left for dead. He survived, and is now in Kyoto, plotting with his gathered warriors to overthrow the new government. Against Kaoru's wishes, Kenshin reluctantly agrees to go to Kyoto and help keep his country from falling back into civil war.

歌舞伎が黄金期に向かう江戸時代中期、彗星の如く現われた破天荒な歌舞伎役者、初代・中村仲蔵（なかむらなかぞう）。梨園の血縁ではない彼は、四代目・市川團十郎に見出されて異例の出世を遂げ、一代で「名人仲蔵」と言われるまでの大スターになった。その波乱万丈の人生は、今でも落語や講談でも語り継がれる人気演目である。



この痛快無比の中村仲蔵の物語はドラマ化され、2022年度文化庁芸術祭テレビドラマ部門の大賞をはじめ、数多くのテレビ賞を受賞。その脚本・演出を務めた源孝志が、今回、新たな視点でオリジナルの舞台戯曲として書き下ろす。演出には2017年赤坂大歌舞伎にて新作歌舞伎の作・演出も務めた蓬莱竜太。中村仲蔵役を演じるのは日本を代表する演技派俳優の藤原竜也。



江戸歌舞伎界の表舞台と舞台裏。この両方を連続した人間ドラマとして描く意欲作。現代社会の閉塞感を突き破る、痛快なエンターテインメントに、ぜひご期待ください。

The story takes place over a 24 hour period. In the southernmost part of Japan, 20 fishing boats of an unknown nationality suddenly fire upon and occupy parts of the Hateruma archipelago. Members of the Japan Coast Guard are detained. Under the extremely tense situation, the Japanese government sends Aircraft Carrier Ibuki and an escort fleet to the area. Ryota Akitsu is the captain of the Aircraft Carrier Ibuki and Toshiya Niinami is second-in-command. It is now 6:23 am. and Japan faces one day which they never have before.

Just when about to commit suicide after being deserted by his bride-to-be during the wedding, a man meets a university professor who is also at the point of killing himself. A woman nearby intervenes, one thing leads to another, and the three lost souls move in together. Each episode is a distinct story about the sometimes painful, sometimes warm romances between them and the people they meet while sharing an apartment.

時は江戸時代中期、舞台は歌舞伎の黄金期を迎えようとする芝居街・日本橋堺町。江戸三座と称される劇場や芝居茶屋がひしめくこの芸能の町に、ひとりの孤児が運命的に流れ着く。中村座で唄方を務める男と、振り付けを教える女の夫婦に養子にもらわれたこの孤児こそ、歌舞伎史上不世出の天才役者と呼ばれるようになる初代中村仲蔵である。 養母の厳しい稽古で踊りの才能を開花させた仲蔵は、役者として舞台に立つ夢を膨らませるが、血筋がものをいう歌舞伎界の高い壁が立ちはだかる。しかし芝居に取り付かれた若者は、無謀にも最下層の大部屋役者から成り上がる下剋上の道を選んだ。歌舞伎界の頂点を巡って裏切りや策謀が渦巻く舞台裏の抗争に巻き込まれつつも、ひたすら芸の道を疾走する仲蔵。しかし彼を待っていたのは苛烈な“楽屋なぶり"だった。
