《夹边沟记事》从2000年春季被《上海文学》开始连载至今，时间已经过去了九年。其间天津古籍出版社出过一册《夹边沟记事》，但其内容不全是“夹边沟”，还有几篇作者早期的中短篇小说。后来上海文艺出版社出版了全部的“夹边沟”故事，书名变成了《告别夹边沟》。现在花城出版社要重新出版《夹边沟记事》，且恢复了它的原名。
