Roan wrote the song with Justin Tranter and Dan Nigro, who produced it. A 1980s-influenced power ballad, "Good Luck, Babe!" incorporates synth-pop, new wave, and dance, with elements of baroque pop and soft rock. Its maximalist production consists of pulsing synthesizers and a string section. Its lyrics vengefully address a queer woman who denies her romantic feelings for Roan in order to enter a compulsory heterosexual relationship.
