Meditation-Tomorrow: Solo Flute Music of Alireza Mashayekhi brings together three transcendent works that reveal the depth, range, and philosophical imagination of one of Iran’s most important composers. Performed by acclaimed Iranian-American soloist Kelariz Keshavarz, the album offers a vividly expressive journey through Mashayekhi’s singular musical world; all seen – and heard – through the lens of the unaccompanied flute.



Shaped by memory, exile, time, and transformation, the program features a selection of his extensive writings for flute: Meditation–Tomorrow, Op. 156 (2002), Scheherazade’s Memories, Op. 310 (2023), and Circa, Op. 309 (2023). These chosen pieces trace Mashayekhi’s lifelong exploration of identity, imagination, and the relationship between Iranian and Western musical thought.



In Meditation–Tomorrow, Mashayekhi turns inward, transforming reflection into sound through a work inspired by André Gide and the search for meaning across time. Scheherazade’s Memories expands the legendary storyteller into a powerful meditation on freedom, captivity, resistance, and love. Circa completes the album with a compelling study of distance, desire, and the elusive nature of presence itself.



North Carolina-based Kelariz Keshavarz brings exceptional clarity, warmth, and expressive nuance to these works, illuminating the lyricism and intensity at the core of Mashayekhi’s writing for flute. Her performance reflects both deep technical mastery and a longstanding commitment to contemporary music, intercultural collaboration, and the expansion of the flute repertoire.
