Explains the curiosity that the "golden ratio represents the input resistance of an infinite chain of voltage dividers with a pair of 1-ohm resistors". To convince the reader that this circuit is more than nerd-snipping, also shows the derivation of the transmission line impedance without using a single differential equation by cheating via industrial-grade hand-waving. @leaning_tower Artificial transmission lines with lumped LC ladders were also a standard solution for signal conditioning and delay lines at Bell for telephone circuits in the earth 20th century. I thought that lumped filters should have much easier math than transmission lines. Wrong! It turned out that a large part of filter theory (historically called "electric wave filters") is invented from the already-known transmission line theory...
@niconiconi I was once tried to add bunch of inductors to the twisted wire pair to increase its characteristic impedance, which help us driving high voltage rf signal to the ion trap in the vacuum system.
