Do champion trees have the best shot at sequestering carbon from the air?
Interesting in light of this article from MIT earlier this year:

Which says that as trees mature, they lose their ability to sequester carbon. So maybe these champion trees are the slowest growing ones that will be able to sequester the most carbon before they mature?
Alternatively, maybe it would be more efficient to have fast maturing trees that you can cut down for lumber before replanting to keep a carbon sequestration cycle going?
